Drug and alcohol testing for mining
Onsite urine, saliva and breath alcohol testing for mine sites, from a supplier that has supported Australian testing programmes for over 20 years.
On a mine site, one impaired worker puts a whole crew at risk. That’s why most sites test at the gate, at random, and after every incident, as part of their fitness-for-work programme.
Match the test to the question
- Is this person fit to work right now? Saliva tests and breathalysers show recent use. Cannabis, for example, shows in saliva for about 6 hours, but in urine for days (detection periods).
- Has this person been using drugs? Urine cups such as DrugCheck® NxStep OnSite and Maxi Clear look back further, which suits pre-employment and pre-mobilisation testing.
- Alcohol at the start of a shift? A fuel cell breathalyser such as the Prodigy S gives a reading in seconds.
Good to know on remote sites
Test kits have storage limits (NxStep cups, for example, must be kept between 4°C and 30°C), so keep stock out of hot site offices and vehicles. Order before you run low: remote deliveries take longer.
